Lhakpa Ri [7,045m./23,000ft.] is an attractive peak, which divides the upper East Rongbuk glacier and upper Kharta glacier. Mt. Lakpa Ri is the newly becoming famous expedition and many climbers have been attracted these days to this mountain climbing. It is very closed to Mount Everest and one feels as equal to climbed Mount Everest the moment, one reaches on the top of this mountain. It is close enough to Everest to feel the enormous power and character of the world’s highest mountain, but is set far enough back to appreciate the true geometric perspective of this great peak.The summit view from Lhakpa Ri rivals that from many of the world’s greatest mountains.It was first climb by George Mallory who was on his way to the Everest Reconnaissance in 1921; and he had seen its North Col.

Mt.Lhakpa Ri is a 7043 metre mountain located above the East Rongbuk Glacier in Tibet. It is close enough to Everest to feel the enormous power and character of the world’s highest mountain, but is set far enough back to appreciate the true geometric perspective of this great peak. The summit view from Lhakpa Ri rivals that from many of the world’s greatest mountains. The name Lhakpa-Ri means “Stormy Mountain” and is situated in a stunning position directly opposite the North Ridge of Mount Everest, across upper East Rongbuk Glacier.The visit to Lhasa, the overland journey across the Tibetan Plateau, the trek in the footsteps of Mallory and a climb with awesome views of Everest, are the ingredients of a very special expedition. It will also give a life-long impression of Tibet and its people and an insight and deep respect for the achievements of the early Everest pioneers.
